Is it safe to have anal sex if you have hemorrhoids?

I am 22 years old female and I have hemorrrhoids since i was 17 ... its not the painful or the bleeding type so i never went to see a doctor about it but my boyfriend has been bothering me about háving anal sex for the last 2 weeks.... i am too shy to tell him about my hemorrhoids so what should i do?
