Do External Hemorrhoids go away on their own? How long do I wait before I call a doctor?

Please help...I am scared of the surgeries? I had a baby 4 weeks ago and this is the 4th time I've had a hemorrhoid since then. The problem is the last 3 hemorrhoids were gone the next morning...this isn't going away. If I have one of those surgeries...I have read that you are in pain/on bedrest for days. I have a newborn, 2 year old and a VERY active (busy with activities EVERYDAY) 9 year old. I can't possibly stay off me feet!!

Some hemorrhoids are more stubborn than others. Problem is, the more stubborn the more dangerous. Dangerous in that it can break (usually contains blood & puss, and that can lead to infection. You must know that hemorrhoids are a common condition after childbirth. You could call your OBSTETRICIAN and I'm sure he will recommend a salve that you can buy over the counter and apply yourself. Or he could call in a Rx that you can apply yourself also. Calling your Gyno is not a good idea because he will want to give you an internal which you don't need right now. Other than calling your OB, you can also buy an over the counter medication. They all work well. Good Luck with that and with the kids and feel better.
